Vocabulary
We have had the good fortune to receive small grants from the various agencies which will provide funds for service learning projects to be included in your Operation SMART lesson plans.  Service Learning activities support the Mission Statement of College of Saint Mary.

You will plan a lesson that includes service learning in conjunction with your Operation SMART units.   This year all of our projects will involve purchasing and planting flower bulbs for the spiritual garden at Mercy Crestview Village.  You and your partner will write a grant proposal to acquire funds for your project. You can obtain valuable information at http://kidsgardening.com/Bulb lesson links.  The cost of the bus to take the students to Crestview will be $100.00.  Your share will be 1/7 of that.  The plan is to plant the bulbs on November 2.

Grant-writing is an important skill for teachers affected by budget constraints and for those who want to provide experiences for their students that go beyond what is provided by the school district.  Click here for the mini-grant  proposal form that you will use to apply for funds for your project.
